Why did you decide to apply to KC-CDO?
The KC-CDO program provided me with a broad platform to meet fellow students, experts and scholars with relevant industry backgrounds, and learn professional knowledge related to business, finance, hospitality management, and real estate investment, which helped me expand my horizons and enhance my competitiveness in the workplace. At the same time, the experience in Kyoto and Ithaca was also an attractive point for me.
What career goals will KC-CDO help you achieve?
The KC-CDO program helped me to open the door to not only hospitality but also real estate, finance, and consulting industries.
Which class did you enjoy the most at both Kyoto and Cornell?
Fixed Income Analysis by professor Camela Moulton
How were the classmates at both university?
They are all kind and supportive. I really appreciate their help during these two years.
Did you have chance to internship during the program?
I had the chance to join summer intership at Guangfa Securities and project intership at CICC during July to October, 2022 in Beijing. Finding a chance in China when I was in the US was exhausting, but the efforts finally paid off and I had a great summer to make new friends and enjoy new environments.
What did you do on your days off?
Hiking, work-out, and parties.
Did you have second thoughts about starting your study during the pandemic? If so, what determined to start now?
I was about to give up in 2020 when the pandemic just started; I couldn't get the US student visa and there were only few flights back then. However, when it all became possible in 2021, I had no hesitation to start the program, participating for a step-up in my acdemic background and career path.
What have you most enjoyed about being a KC-CDO student?
Making friends along the journey in both universities.
How did you connect with people and make new friends?
Via classes, meetings and gatherings held by school and also student communities.
Do you have any advice or words of wisdom for future/current KC-CDO students?
This trip can be tough or miss your expectations, but be brave and don't lose hope.
